What if I am not in shape?
That is why we are here. You do not have to get in shape for CrossFit. Every workout can be modified or scaled.
What should I bring?
Water bottle, positive attitude and athletic shoes.
How much does it cost?
Your first class is on us, so now you have no excuses. If you want to learn more about the pricing, click HERE.
Why does it cost so much?
We figured we would address this issue head on because we know money can be a touchy subject.
At CrossFit TurnPoint you will always have a coach. The personal attention of knowing exactly how to move, what technical problems to fix, and what to eat so you can recover for your next workout are all things you will get on a daily basis. No extra charges or up sells for the premium membership.
We also like to break down the pricing structure to expose the true value of a membership. Semi private group training sessions cost at the very least $20 (probably more like $40) and we will even go as far to say that they have every piece of equipment that you will find at CFTP. If you go three times a week that is $240 a month. That is like two CrossFit memberships!
When you break it down we are actually one of the cheaper gyms in the area for individual/group training. And remember we are much more then a warehouse full of people lifting heavy things. We are a community of dedicated athletes.
Can you get hurt doing CrossFit?
You can injure yourself in any activity if you don't do it correctly, or haven't taken into consideration your level of fitness, flexibility or health. If you're spending too much time on the couch right now, that's hurting you too! Runner's get shin splints, tennis players get tennis elbow, strength trainers get strains, couch potatoes get obesity, high blood pressure and coronaries. No matter what your level of fitness is our first focus is on safety of the movement. Then we lock down consistency. Can you continually perform every movement correctly. Finally we will push you to go fast and test your intensity. Do accidents happen? Yes, however we do our best to prevent injuries from happening.
Is CrossFit really hard?
CrossFit can be hard, but it is nothing to fear. We welcome everyone to experience the reward hard work can have on your body and your mind.
What makes Crossfit so different from all the other stuff out there (park bootcamps, P90X, globo Gyms)?
We aren't the first to admit that most of our functional movements and exercises are not new. However, the way we organize our workouts along with knowledgeable eyes-on coaching, mobility and nutrition advice is something you can't find anywhere else. If you’re working out at home, you risk bad technique and probably not pushing your strength potential. At an ordinary bootcamp, they vary exercises, but gaining real strength may be an issue. Gyms may give you all the great equipment, but can you drop the weight if it gets too heavy? Is the coaching there affordable and are they able to gauge your intensity? Is there enough equipment available and is laid out so that you can maintain intensity safely? Is anyone talking to you about nutrition? Simply stated: we do our best to earn your business everyday by providing you something you can not find anywhere else.
What should I expect in my first workout session?
Every class we start with an instructor led, full body, dynamic warm-up that will get you moving. Then we review the WOD, workout of the day, with the class and discuss movement technique and any extra mobility work needed. Then we will sweat. Our coaches are always on hand to make sure you are moving properly, and to fix any technique issues. Safety is our priority over lifting heavy weight. We end the class with mobility work to ensure you remain flexible and injury free for your next workout.
Do I have to train every day in CrossFit?
No, we encourage you to train intensely but also rest periodically to recover from the exertions. Rest is vital to keeping you healthy. Over-training is something we discourage because it does not help you achieve your fitness or health goals and increases the risk of injury. We typically recommend either a 3 days on, 1 day off, 2 days on, 1 day off however, we understand that a 5 days on, 2 days off works better with most people’s schedules.
I am afraid I will get too big and bulky?
In order for people to get big, bulging muscles, especially women, you must do a few things. Number one eat a ton. Literally, your caloric intake needs to be through the roof and filled with a high volume of protein and fat. Second, you need to consistently pick up really heavy things, rest for a few minutes then repeat. Do we do this? Yes, however, then we might run a mile or do 100 burpees for time. In CrossFit, we combine strength training with cardiovascular endurance which gives athletes a lean and athletic look.
