Citrus has always been very active, with involvements in school choir, dance, basketball, soccer, volleyballl, etc. as a kid. The summer before middle school, she was diagnosed with scoliosis and had major back surgery that involved a spinal fusion and a metal rod to prevent any increase of curvuture in her spine. She was determined to not let this hold her back or limit her possibilities. After highschool she became a competitive "break dancer" while going to college in Phx, AZ. She landed a job in San Diego and then joined a professional dance company called Culture Shock San Diego. After 11 years of dancing, she retired from competing but was looking for something that would build her core strength as a means of preventing any future back pain as she got older.
Enter crossfit. One week into it and she was sold. Now seven years later and she still looks forward to working out every day, setting new goals every year, and building with the community.
Coaching is her way of giving back to the community and helping others experience all the positive growth that crossfit has to offer. Outside of crossfit, she is a wife, mother of three beautiful children, and an Electrical Sr. Support Engineer at Qualcomm Technologies.
Citrus currently holds a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Certificate and CrossFit Judges Certificate.
Jess tried CrossFit for the first time while visiting her brother in Costa Rica. She loved it so much she joined a box as soon as she returned home. She’s always been active and into fitness. Before CrossFit she coached spinning classes for 8 years. She loves helping people learn new skills and motivating them to push themselves. Coaching also serves as an outlet for her personally. After CrossFitting for a few years, she decided she missed coaching and decided to get her Level 1 certificate and pursue coaching.
Jess currently holds a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Certificate and CrossFit Judges Certificate.
